Knee Injury Awareness

One day  a fellow Instagramer, @Athlete_Dedication, notified me about sharing a photo – the teal ribbon. He told me that it was also brought to his attention by @_Athlete_Motivation, and I noticed @AthleteForLife_ was in on the awareness campaign. At first, I was skeptical because I was never aware of this, even after being a 2x ACL recovered athlete since 2009. Once i did my research and found a little bit of information in regards to the teal ribbon being a representation for “Knee Injury Awareness.” There is no date set or anything official, but through this shared group of Instagram influencers, a date of January 6th has been chosen as the day to “Wear Teal.” Until we find more information in regards to the “Knee Injury Awareness” campaign, we will set forth with bring awareness to those that have suffered a knee injury. According to organizations like AAOS(and the Boston Globe), there are upwards of 200,000(400,000 according to Boston Globe from a recent article, last month) knee surgeries performed each year. If you are reading this, you may have encountered a knee injury, one as serious as a torn acl, so I ask that you share this article to bring awareness about knee injuries. This article will be updated as new information comes…stay tuned.
